Age for Braces

Do you know when kids should see an orthodontist for an exam to see if they need braces?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommend that children see an orthodontic specialist no later than age seven for a consultation. The vast majority of children will NOT need braces at this time. However, there are some cases that do, and if we do not treat the problem early it may be difficult, if not impossible, to treat later in life. In fact, damage may have already been done to the teeth or gums. It is also important that an orthodontist examines your child's facial and jaw development to help prevent major issues that could be in their future. This is why Dr. Jolley offers complimentary consultations to ensure that no orthodontic problem is missed and no question goes unanswered. We are all about peace of mind for you and your child!
